The governor's office says Pence's appointment of Claire Fiddian-Green as his special assistant for education innovation and reform is effective July 15.
Fiddian-Green is the founding executive director of the Indiana Charter School Board, a statewide charter school authorizing agency created during the 2011 legislative session. She previously worked with an education nonprofit, serving as president of The Mind Trust based in Indianapolis.
Pence says Fiddian-Green is "dedicated to bringing choice and opportunity to Indiana families."
