Now in its fourth year, IBJ's CFO of the Year program recognizes top financial leaders at Indiana companies, not-for-profit agencies and government entities.

These days, a successful chief financial officer has a scope of responsibilities much broader than the traditional duties of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and capital financing. In today's challenging business environment, a top CFO must play an integral role in operational and strategic leadership.

The selection process is always difficult, but we were fortunate to have an expert panel of judges to help us sort through the applications. Our judges, many of them successful CFOs and CEOs, considered several factors as finalists and winners were chosen. Among them: nominees' dedication to their organizations' obligations, their high ethical standards, their contributions to their organizations' overall growth, and their involvement in the community.

We are honoring 12 CFOs this year—three in each of four categories.
