Bloomington-based Author Solutions Inc. announced Tuesday that it has entered into a self-publishing partnership with Toronto-based
Harlequin Enterprises Limited, a prolific publisher of romance novels.
The partnership, called Harlequin Horizons,
provides the opportunity for emerging authors to self-publish their books, with the possibility of Harlequin picking up the
books under its traditional brand, the companies said in a prepared statement.
Under the agreement, ASI will fulfill
all sales, marketing, publishing, distribution and book-selling services.
Author Solutions, which operates as
AuthorHouse, is owned by Palo Alto, Calif.-based Bertram Capital. It acquired the business in January of 2007 from Carmel-based
Gazelle Tech Ventures.
Author Solutions employs more than 500 people in offices in Bloomington and Indianapolis,
and about 50 in the United Kingdom.
It brought to market more than 21,000 new titles in
2008, the company said.
