The Harrison Center for the Arts is in the running for a grant from ArtPlace, a national public-private collaboration that supports creative “placemaking.”

The Harrison Center’s City Gallery was selected from more than 2,000 applicants. ArtPlace will award $15 million this year, and winners will be announced in May. Last year, 34 organizations shared $11.5 million.

Harrison Center says its City Gallery is “designed to connect people to culture, community and place to strengthen core neighborhoods.” Located on North Delaware Street, the Harrison Center houses artists’ studios and hosts exhibits and other events. The gallery is its latest project to promote urban living.

ArtPlace is supported by nine of the country’s top foundations, six banks and eight federal agencies, including the National Endowment for the Arts.
