Most Indiana House Democrats have resumed their legislative boycott, hours after a dispute in which a Republican committee
chairman refused to allow consideration of any proposed changes to a divisive right-to-work bill.
Republican House Speaker Brian Bosma tried twice Tuesday afternoon to gavel the chamber into order, but the Democratic boycott
left too few members present.
House Democratic leader Patrick Bauer is protesting the House labor committee's 8-5 party-line approval of the bill,
saying Republicans wrongly prevented Democratic members from offering any amendments. Bosma said the committee acted properly
and Democrats will be able to offer amendments later.
Bosma says the Democratic action wouldn't interfere with Tuesday night's State of the State speech by Republican
Gov. Mitch Daniels in the House chamber. Bauer said he will attend the speech.
House Democrats boycotted the first three days of the General Assembly before returning temporarily Tuesday morning.

I agree that a $100 per day fine is steep. I also don't know what the rules ays about who actually pays the fine. But... if I had to guess, I'll bet the unions will reimburse any legislator who gets fined. After all, it's the big out of state unions that are behind this protest anyway. It looks like most of the "working people" are being bussed in from out of state and are being paid by big labor to be there.
Too bad the democrats have become to beholden to them to tell them to go pound sand.
It will protect those that don't want to support the agenda of the union bosses. Right now, you have no say and you're being uses as a puppet. Whatever they say, you must do or you are out! Stop being a slave!
This just gives you more say, but you don't see it. If the unions are doing a good job, then everyone will want to join them anyway. Don't be afraid!
