Indiana House Democrats take boycott into second week

Indiana House Democrats' boycott against Republican-backed proposals is entering its second week.

The boycott began last Tuesday and Democrats are not expected to return to the Statehouse on Monday. House Democrats say they won't return unless Republicans give into their demands to change labor-related legislation.

But GOP leaders have refused to budge and say they won't be bullied into taking items off their agenda.

Meanwhile, union members planned to continue to gather at the Statehouse to support the Democrats. Union leaders said film star Danny Glover was scheduled to speak to a crowd of union supporters Monday afternoon.

Republican House Speaker Brian Bosma said he will try to convene the House Monday afternoon. But without Democrats present, the House would not have a quorum required to do business.

Republicans hold 60 seats in the 100-member House, where 67 members must be present for the quorum required to conduct business. Most of the House Democrats have been staying in a hotel in a Comfort Suites hotel in Urbana, Ill., a college town 140 miles south of Chicago.

Wy are they helping the hotel in another state? Why couldn't they stay in Indiana and at least give keep the money they are paying for rooms/food and etc. in the their own state for revenue??

the governor needs to supoena each and every one of them and send the State Troopers to bring them back unde Indiana LAW. What in the name of God do they think they rfe doing. Just because they did not win an election (which is the democratic way not the democrat way) they are like little children stomping their feet just because they don't lkike to deal wiht the agenda and they think they can arm wrestle the state into giving them their way. WEll folks I will tell you that Unions when initially began they looked out for the working man and kept managment from abusing now it appears the tavles have turned and they are abusing managment and all but holding a fgun to the heads of thei8r employers for what the call Workers Rights. Well when did they receive entitlements over the common man who needs to work and needs to put bread on the tabvle for his family and cannot afford to pay userous dues to some union to get a job. 9 out of 10 of these folks needing a job in all probalility are better qualified than some dude sitting on his fanny collecting an income for doing nothing as they are right now and so are the demograts sitting in Urbana. they are doing just exactly what the beef is all about. Unions run our country and businesses into bankruptcy and that my friends is exactly what has caused US Manufacturing to go elesewhere in the world with the jobs. Why does American Industry hire illegals because unions break the bank,. Solve one issue and you solve them both.STOP THIS NONSENSE.

You know if I decide to not show up to work, the outcome is I would lose my job and definately not be paid for not working. This is senseless and does not resolve the problems. I say they should be immediately removed from their positions and docked for not working. Besides impeachment, I might be willing to remove their status as residence. You asked to get voted on to help your community and than you refuse to help by doing what you where elected for? Impeach, Impeach, Impeach!!!

I say next election "throw the bums out". If it were the Republicans doing this, I would say the same thing. None of us would get by with doing this at our jobs. Not one of them would ever make it in the real world. What a waste they all are. Every last one of them should be ashamed, but I don't think they have a clue as to how or why they should be ashamed.

Do the democrats still get payed for the time that they refuse to show up to work?
Do they get docked pay for this time?

Voters, we can resolve this democratic whining and foul playing in the next election. Vote 7 more Republican members in and ALL of the dems can take vacation for all of the following sessions. 7 more seats and the republicans can continue to do the people's work while dems vacation and whine in another state.

Dems. YOU LOST THE VOTE. This is another loop hole issue the democrats are using to punish the majority that voted in the republicans. Just like when they used loop holes to force un-popular issues through on the federal level when they had the majority.

I'm SO TIRED OF THE DEMOCRATS!

Vote Republican the only ones sticking around, even when they don't have the majority, and getting the people's work done!

Maybe we should all follow the Democrats lead so on April 15 when our state income taxes are due, we should all run to Illinois and not pay the taxes? They wouldn't like that very much, would they? A bunch of sniveling, whining COWARDS!!!

The historical base for unions has made allot of things! What I so see it has created is the very over uses of nationalism that is the down fall of private family owned companies and the restraint of invention and innovation to create new things from the heart of we the people of united States And the Big problems are the Over uses of Union run Nationalism or Government Backed Contracted companies.
I am not a Sport fan yet I respectfully so point out the Lucas Oil Stadium, The Play ground of the National foot ball league and the Colts! A few years back I come to understand that the government of Indiana so passed Tax hikes to pay for and sought to maintain the Stadium. These people that make millions as the fans by products made in a overseas market with that nations resources! All on the backs of the smaller companies. That makes No sense! I am very happy to hear the Republicanâ??s standing there ground, Thank God the Voters of Indiana in the last midterm voted for Cap amendment for the State Tax rate! Those tax hikes should be changed! Be that the ones passed to pay for the Stadium. The Colts and the NFL could have paid for the stadium our right.

Why Make People pay for the sport Two ways!
NFL Nationalistic Failure Leadership at its best !
