Pendleton-based Remy International on Thursday said it has signed a long-term agreement to provide
electric motors to Allison Transmission for commercial hybrid trucks.
Financial terms of the 10-year contract with
Indianapolis-based Allison were not disclosed. The motors will be produced at Remy’s Anderson factory.
Remy and Allison, both former General Motors units, previously worked together to develop
hybrid bus powertrains “and are now looking forward to a long partnership in the hybrid commercial
truck sector,” said John Weber, chief executive officer of Remy.
Remy’s hybrid
motor applications include those used in GM’s Denali and Cadillac Escalade hybrid SUVs. Remy also has a supply
contract with Daimler AG.
Last October the company announced a line of off-the-shelf electric motors for hybrids
as a more cost-effective alternative to custom applications for automakers.
