Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita has kept the state's 4th District in the Republican column by winning the election
to replace retiring Rep. Steve Buyer.
Rokita easily won in the heavily Republican district despite a low-key campaign since winning the GOP primary in May. Rokita
twice won statewide races for secretary of state but was prevented from seeking re-election this year because of term limits.
Buyer announced in January that he would retire after 18 years in Congress because his wife has been diagnosed with an incurable
autoimmune disease.
Rokita defeated Democrat David Sanders, a Purdue University biology professor who twice lost to Buyer.
