Directors of Riley Area Development Corp. have named a new executive director to replace Bill Gray, who retired after spending 17 years at the local community development corporation.

Eric Strickland’s appointment was effective June 1. He brings more than 18 years of engineering, real estate development and economic development experience to the organization.

Strickland spent the past 12 years as a senior project manager at Kite Realty Group Trust, an Indianapolis-based real estate investment trust. He earned a bachelor’s in civil engineering from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.

“Since moving to Indianapolis in 1996 and residing in the neighborhoods around Massachusetts Avenue, I have witnessed the amazing transformation and look forward to playing a significant leadership role in the next chapter of RADC’s work,” Strickland said in a statement.

Riley Area Development Corp. was founded in 1979 and serves the city’s near-east side, including the Mass Ave area.
