in a ceremony in Philadelphia.
The annual Marconi Awards, presented by the National Association of Broadcasters,
are considered to be the industry’s top honor.
Rick Cummings, president of Emmis’ global radio division,
accepted WIBC’s award and dedicated it to the late Tom Severino, who led WIBC from 1994 until his death in July.
In late 2007, Emmis officials moved WIBC from the AM dial, where it had been for decades, to the FM dial, where it
has seen its audience grow.
The Marconi Radio Awards were established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel
Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi.
