On The Beat Industry News In Brief

The Zionsville Art Gallery Association has formed just in time for the holiday shopping season, and the first order of business is expanded hours.

Through Dec. 23, most of the 10 member galleries will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. (Some are offering hours beyond those listed.)

They’re also making a long-term commitment to open on Sundays. Winter hours, which run through April 30, will be noon to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.

As IBJ reported previously, the Zionsville galleries’ joint marketing effort comes as Carmel’s new downtown arts district starts to lure a critical mass of galleries and artists from Indianapolis.

Many of the artists coming to Carmel have kept their Stutz studios. And many of them are getting "grants" to come to Carmel.
