More than 150 employees at Medtec Ambulance Corp.’s Goshen and White Pigeon, Mich., manufacturing plants will lose their jobs as a result of a company reorganization consolidating operations in Florida.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development posted on its Web site Friday a notice it received Jan. 11 from Medtec’s parent, Oshkosh, Wis.-based Oshkosh Corp., stating that the plants will close March 31.

Oshkosh Corp. announced earlier this month that it will relocate Medtec’s manufacturing operations to existing facilities of subsidiary Pierce Manufacturing Inc. in Bradenton, Fla.

Goshen  is located in in northern Indiana's Elkhart County, which boasted Indiana’s highest unemployment rate—13.3 percent in November.

Medtec is a manufacturer of custom-built ambulance vehicles. The company was founded in 1974 and purchased by Oshkosh Corp. in 2000.
