Butler has hired former Indiana University football coach Bill Lynch as associate athletic director for development.
Lynch played and coached football at Butler and has been inducted into the school's hall of fame. Three times he was chosen the Indiana Collegiate Conference player of the year, and the 1977 graduate still ranks second on the school's career passing list.
Most recently, Lynch coached the Hoosiers. But he was fired in November after a third straight losing season.
He also has been the head coach at Butler, Ball State and DePauw.
Lynch will begin his new job March 1 and will work closely with athletic director Barry Collier on bringing in donations to the athletic department.
