The Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau said Monday that it is asking for proposals to develop a full-service convention hotel on up to 18 acres in Plainfield at the intersection of Interstate 70 and Highway 267.

The bureau already owns a 10-acre site at the intersection and is negotiating to buy another eight acres. The group wants developers to submit plans to design, finance, construct and operate a hotel with a minimum of 200 rooms and an integrated conference center.

The site, near the Indianapolis International Airport, could be provided as part of an incentive deal to spur development of a hotel that would serve as the county's "premier" property, the bureau said.

Proposals are due by Dec. 10 and should be sent to Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Emory Lencke.
