Indianapolis Zoo blames crowd drop on bad weather

Back to TopCommentsE-mailPrint

Indianapolis Zoo officials blame poor weather for a decline in attendance last year.

The zoo says it drew 1.05 million visitors during 2009, down from 1.1 million in 2008.

Zoo spokeswoman Karen Burns says crowds were kept unusually low on many weekends from April through October because of rain.

The zoo believes it could see higher attendance for 2010 since its new cheetah exhibit is scheduled to open in late May.
