Forrest Lucas is following through on plans to take his namesake brand of oil and fuel additives to the mass market.

Lucas Oil says it will open a lube shop and
car wash on U.S. 36 in Avon in October. Lucas is partnering with Indianapolis golf course owner and operator
Jerry Hazlett on the $2 million station, which will sport a brick exterior and landscaping over 2-1/2
acres.

Plans for the station
include a 1,600-square-foot retail space where car owners can buy Lucas Oil-brand gear and learn about
the company’s history. Lucas, a native of Corydon, is a former truck driver.

"We have a pretty high-design product," Charlotte, N.C.-based architect David Wagner
said. "It doesn’t look like your grandfather’s Jiffy Lube."

Lucas Oil wasn’t known outside trucking and racing until Lucas bought the naming rights to the
Indianapolis Colts’ stadium.

Lucas Oil’s lube stations will follow "green" building standards by using materials
quarried in Indiana and conserving water, Wagner said. He believes the project could be the first U.S.
lube shop to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED standards.
