Haven Manufacturing Indiana Inc., a maker of orthopedic instruments, industrial parts and special tooling, announced Tuesday
morning that it plans to add 70 jobs in northeast Indiana by 2014 as part of a $2.3 million expansion—tripling its staff.
The Ossian-based company, which provides services and parts to the medical, furniture, aerospace and transportation industries,
said the investment will be used to purchase computer equipment and renovate its 30,000-square-foot facility south of Fort
Wayne.
Haven Manufacturing has 34 full-time employees and already has begun hiring additional equipment managers, computer programmers
and managers.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said it will provide Haven Manufacturing up to $550,000 in performance-based tax credits
and up to $45,600 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans. The Wells County Council approved additional
property tax abatement.
Founded in 1957 as Hower Tool, the company originally manufactured special carbide tooling. It has more than 25 customers
throughout the United States, Mexico and Switzerland.
