Duffy Tool & Stamping LLC in Muncie has notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development that the company will close its plant by the end of October.

Roughly 130 workers will lose their jobs as a result of the closure, Duffy said in its July 27 filing. The first layoffs will begin on Sept. 21.

Duffy was founded in October 1953 by Edwin McDuffee and makes metal stampings for the automotive industry as well as other products. At its peak 10 years ago, the company employed more than 400 people and was one of the four largest manufacturers in Delaware County.
