The Indiana Pacers have signed head coach Frank Vogel to a contract extension, the team announced Monday.

Terms of the deal, including its length, were not disclosed.

"This is a good deal for Frank and the franchise," said Donnie Walsh, the team's president of basketball operations, in a prepared statement. "Frank has done a great job turning our team around since he became coach and deserves the chance to continue the work he and his staff have started."

Vogel is in his third season as head coach. Entering Tuesday's home game with Miami, he has an 82-56 overall record.

The Pacers are 20-14 this year, in a virtual first-place tie with the Chicago Bulls in the NBA’s Central Division.

The Pacers went 42-24 last season, fifth-best in the NBA, and reached the Eastern Conferences semifinals before losing to eventual champion Miami.

Vogel went 20-18 in his first season as head coach after taking over for Jim O’Brien in January 2011.

The coach was featured as part of IBJ’s Forty Under 40 series in 2012. He also was the subject of an edition of the video series "Leading Questions." In the video below, Vogel discusses taking over the team, loosening the reins, and establishing a new identity.
