Bryan Bedford, CEO, president and chairman of Indianapolis-based Republic Airways, will appear in an episode of "Undercover
Boss" this season, CBS-TV announced Friday.
The popular television show follows different corporate leaders each week as they take on undercover missions to get a closer
look at the inner workings of their companies.
"Undercover Boss" was the top-rated new series of the 2009-2010 TV season, with an average of 17.7 million viewers.
It airs on Sunday nights.
In addition to Bedford, this year's season will feature the bosses of the Chicago Cubs, NASCAR, Chiquita Brands International
Inc., Great Wolf Resorts Inc., DirectTV, Lucky Strike Lanes and Choice Hotels International.
The episode with Bedford has already been taped, according to The Denver Post, but the airing date hasn't been
announced.
Republic acquired Denver-based Frontier and Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines last year and is merging the two airlines under
the Frontier name.
"Bryan saw this as a great opportunity for him to do something that most CEOs don't get the opportunity to do, which
is really go undercover in the operation," Lindsey Purves, spokeswoman for Frontier Airlines, told The Denver
Post. "With everything that the company has been through in the last three years with bankruptcy, being purchased
by Republic and now integrating with Midwest Airlines, Bryan thought it was extremely important for him to experience what
life is like for our front-line employees, and learn firsthand what can be done to improve things for our customers and our
guests."
