A recycling business that launched a local expansion project 18 months ago says the decision led to 125 new jobs.

Electronic Recyclers International Inc. in Plainfield is set to announce Wednesday afternoon that it has completed the expansion. The California-based company moved its local operations from Indianapolis to Plainfield in 2010 to make room for growth.

ERI is the nation’s largest recycler of electronics and related waste.

Government officials are scheduled to attend an event at 2540 Airwest Blvd. in Plainfield on Wednesday afternoon to discuss details of the expansion.

Besides Indiana, ERI has recycling centers in California, Washington, Colorado, Texas, North Carolina and Massachusetts.
