Fishers has been named one of the nation’s top 25 suburbs in which to retire by Forbes, the town announced
Monday.
The magazine’s editors considered suburbs that are less than 25 miles from the center of a large city and have an average
home price of less than $400,000. They also factored in cost of living, tax climate, availability of hospitals and higher
education, crime rates, air quality, and transportation options into the city.
The magazine said Fishers had the lowest crime rate on the list, average home prices just above $200,000 and a cost of living
10 percent below the national average.
“Unsurpassed quality of life is something we strive for in Fishers,” said Fishers Town Council Vice President
Michael Colby, in a prepared statement. “Being recognized on this list is yet another wonderful accomplishment for the
town.”
The list, which was unranked, included cities from 22 states. The only other Indiana suburb to make the list was Munster.
