  2. I am guessing that you are taking into account net pay (after tax income). That in itself is another problem with the ACA. By voluntarily reducing our income, solely for the purpose of qualifying for a subsidy, we will be paying LOWER taxes so that we can receive MORE from the government. It is to our advantage to do this, but in effect, the government has provided us with an incentive to work less, and pay less in taxes, so that we can receive more in aid from the taxes of others. How many others will be doing this, and at what cost? Additionally, how many others can reduce their incomes even further and qualify not only for the subsidies but for other aid (food stamps, heating assistance, housing assistance, etc.)?

  4. Meijer has absolutely no history of building urban stores. Don't expect them to start in Indianapolis, where we can't even get a drugstore or bank to be built in downtown without a drive-thru. I'm not sure what people are expecting, but its going to be identical to what they build in the cornfields.

  5. The huge corporate ag giants have determined that this is the cheapest way to turn animals into food. Traditional farmers, who might've respected and treated the animals like sensient beings instead of machines for maximizing profit, can't compete with the economics of the factory farming process. Whether Mr. Shoaf is working directly for one of the enormous pork corporations or just copying their tactics matters not. Unless we choose to legislate decent standards for the raising of livestock animals, these developments will continue to pillage our natural environments. Hopefully, someday soon, a majority will begin to prioritize concern about the way animals are raised for food on modern "farms", and the environmental impacts of those processes, over getting food products at the cheapest retail cost possible.
