They should extend Maryland St. over to East St. in the process, removing that useless traffic spur was only built for MSA.
Creating a whole new block encompassed by Maryland, Washington, Alabama and New Jersey Streets!
How about some type of high-rise development of condos or apartments? We need more density on that side of town. And I don’t mean 9 or 10 stories I’m talking 35 Plus floors.
I agree!!
+1
It’s hardly exciting, but a large parking garage needs to be built on this site. If the soccer stadium is built, much of the parking in that area will be gone — just when it is needed most. The area has already lost a parking garage just to the north of Gainbridge where the new plaza is now. Much as some would like to see more folks taking public transit to games, it’s not going to happen in Indianapolis.
If you have trouble finding parking downtown than you probably shouldn’t be driving
Downtown Indy is INSANELY over-parked. 30% of Downtown’s land area is dedicated to parking. I’m not joking. According to previous parking utilization studies, Downtown Indy has upwards of 80,000 parking stalls and only half are filled at any given time. We super duper don’t need any more parking. Parking is a low-value use and the City needs tax revenues and a base of people living in Downtown, not people driving in from the suburbs.
A giant parking structure is literally the last thing that this site needs.
