Howard Bailey Financial expands its presence in central Indiana with a new Carmel office, reinforcing its mission to help clients retire with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

What inspired the opening of the new office in Carmel?

Carmel has a vibrant, growing population of retirees and pre-retirees who are seeking more than just investment advice. They’re looking for a partner to help them confidently navigate retirement so that they no longer have to worry about what’s next in the markets, allowing them to spend more time focused on what matters most to them. We’re thrilled for the opportunity to be that financial guide.

Being our fifth office location, this expansion brings us closer to the people we serve and allows us to deliver our personalized planning experience in a more convenient and personal way. Our goal is to be deeply embedded in the communities where our clients live and thrive.

What do you believe makes Howard Bailey Financial unique?

We firmly believe that we are in the business of building relationships. We’re more than financial advisors—we’re guides in helping people align their money with what matters most. Our Retire With Purpose® Framework starts by identifying a client’s values and vision for retirement, then builds a custom plan to support it. We don’t take a cookie-cutter approach. And it’s not just one advisor—you get an entire team of professionals working together to address every detail, from tax strategies to investment management to income planning.

How does your team approach benefit clients?

Having a dedicated team means you’re never left wondering who to call or what’s next. Everyone at Howard Bailey is aligned around one mission: to create a positive and empowering experience for our clients. That coordination allows us to respond quickly, anticipate needs, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. It also creates consistency and clarity—both of which are especially valuable in uncertain times.

Markets have been volatile. How are you guiding clients through it?

Market volatility is a given. The question isn’t if it will happen—it’s when. That’s why we don’t build plans based on guesses or trends. We create strategies that can endure change. Our clients have structured income, contingency plans, and portfolios built to weather a range of market environments. That’s the power of planning ahead. When volatility hits, they’re not asking, “What do I do now?” They’re already prepared.

What does “Retire With Purpose” really mean?

It means understanding what you’re retiring to, not just what you’re retiring from. For some people, that’s travel. For others, it’s time with family, giving back, or pursuing a passion. Whatever it is, we help build a plan that makes it possible. Money should be a tool that supports your best life—not something that causes stress or uncertainty. Purpose gives people direction. Our job is to help them financially support that direction.

How do you prepare clients for times like this—when there’s economic uncertainty?

We prepare long before the uncertainty arrives. That includes building income sources that aren’t tied to the market, creating emergency reserves, and making sure portfolios reflect the client’s goals and tolerance for risk. But we also emphasize education. When clients understand why their plan looks the way it does, they don’t panic when markets move. We’re here to help them feel more in control amidst uncertainty.

Any advice for those just starting to think seriously about retirement?

Don’t wait for perfect timing—just get started. The earlier you build a plan, the more options you have. Start by asking yourself what you want life to look like in retirement. Then talk to someone you trust who can help you align your finances with that vision. Retirement planning is not just about maximizing return—it’s about maximizing fulfillment.
