Bio

David Becker is the Chairman and CEO of First Internet Bancorp (NASDAQ: INBK), the parent company of First Internet Bank.  He founded the Bank more than 25 years ago, reimagining the traditional banking model as the first state chartered, FDIC- insured institution to operate entirely online.

Mr. Becker has a 40-year career creating successful entrepreneurial companies in financial services technology (“fintech”) and software-as-a-service (“SaaS”), having created and sold five Inc.500 companies.

He has held numerous community leadership roles, including founding Board Chair for TechPoint, a change agent for Indiana’s technology industry and their Foundation for Youth, which promotes STEM education programs for Indiana students; Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF), a public charity established to improve philanthropic services supporting the Central Indiana region and Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, an alliance of CEOs and university presidents working to promote economic growth. He is the co-chair for CEMETS iLab Indiana, a coalition of leaders who joined forces to design a new statewide professional education and training system rooted in a youth apprenticeship experience, starting in high school.

Mr. Becker is a 2001 recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award and a 2002 recipient of the INITA (later TechPoint) Trailblazer in Technology award. IBJ’s Annual Mickey Maurer Entrepreneur Award

IBJ’s Mickey Maurer Entrepreneur Award will annually honor an individual who embodies the American spirit of entrepreneurism by establishing and nurturing a successful business venture or ventures that contribute to the central Indiana community. In choosing an honoree, IBJ will consider the size and importance of the company or companies, the founder’s impact on developing or encouraging other entrepreneurs, and the honoree’s involvement in the community.

The award is named for Mickey Maurer, who has launched, owned and invested in several important companies in Indiana involved in cable television, film production, radio broadcasting, newspaper publishing real estate and banking. Maurer and partner Bob Schloss acquired IBJ Media in 1990 and owned it in whole and later in part until March 2024, when Nate Feltman took full ownership of the company. In 1993, Maurer and his cousin, Morrie Maurer, co-founded The National Bank of Indianapolis, where Mickey remains a board member. Maurer, an attorney, also served as Indiana secretary of commerce in the administration of Gov. Mitch Daniels and founded a not-for-profit corporate retreat called Mickey’s Camp.
