Vice President, Stakeholder Engagement
TechPoint

TechPoint’s mission is to promote and accelerate the growth of Indiana’s tech community. For Lauren Petersen, that means connecting with 150-plus organizations, including tech companies, universities, investors, service providers and not-for-profits; securing annual fundraising commitments; managing the three-person relationship management team and contractors; and more.

Getting here: After a Fulbright Scholarship in Poland, Petersen returned to Indiana “to pay it forward to the community that invested so much in me as a young woman.” In 2012, she started as a field marketing specialist at ExactTarget—six months before Salesforce acquired the company. She stayed until late 2015 when her twin sister connected her with Mike Langellier, CEO of TechPoint.

First job: She and her twin, Claire, worked as arts and crafts instructors for the Bluffton Parks Department. Proud moment: Building, fostering and coaching her team at TechPoint. “I take the utmost pride in harnessing and orchestrating their energy, excellence and expertise and leading us toward a charge of building a top Midwest tech hub.”

Influential person: Her mother, Deborah. “I learned from my mom the responsibility of helping those in need.” Her mother also instilled her with “an insatiable pursuit to be an active and dedicated member of society as a servant leader.”

Givebacks: United Way of Central Indiana 2021 community engagement co-chair and board of directors executive committee; Indiana Repertory Theatre board member; Ball State University Discovery Fund board member and membership committee chair; Ball State University Department of Urban Planning & Development alumni advisory board member; 2022 College Football Championship Indianapolis Host Committee’s University Speaker Series Committee co-chair; Women’s Fund of Central Indiana engagement committee member

Downtime: watercolor painting, which, during the pandemic, has grown from learning to paint to a hobby to a side hustle of painting custom-home renderings •
