The Fishers Town Council last night approved rezoning a portion of land at the site of the proposed RiverPlace project to allow residential units in addition to an already planned retail and business district, according to WXIN-TV Fox 59.

The development will be located at 96th Street and Allisonville Road. Plans for the site include a shopping center, office space, a hotel, and apartments and townhouses.

Several opponents voiced concerns that the development will damage the environment and create traffic problems.

Next, the developer will draw up plans for the project and submit them to area leaders for revision and final approval.
