  1. “We can and must be a state where all 92 counties thrive”

Sounds like government picking winners and losers and a pretty socialist vision to me.

The reality is, people are picking winners and losers with where they choose to live and work and raise their families. They’re doing that, primarily, in the parts of Indiana near the biggest cities that have the best amenities and the best schools. That’s not an accident, it took lots of money spent by … the government.

If you want to have a vision to change that, be honest. It’s going to take a state willing to spend money on investing in and, in some cases, gambling on the future. Lots of money. Billions.

And I’m not seeing any evidence that the Indiana legislature, nor most (all?) of the gubernatorial candidates, have that kind of courage or vision. We think cutting taxes alone will do the job. Best I can tell, that’s either just saying what the think tanks and donors want you to say, or you’re just that simple minded.

  2. Doden is right. ALL development facets of the Leap project should have been researched (especially water) before it was promoted as the place to be. Maybe now it can have been scaled back and still be effective. Diverting (stealing) natural resources from other areas is short sided. Redevelop the LEAP concept to fit the land. Win-Win-Win!

  3. This is why Indiana loses, constantly always loses, and never gets nationally meaningful investment.

I don’t care that this is entirely political posturing, a classic “I just have questions” sabotage, and a misplaced attack on IEDC from a former IEDC President.

When candidates a for top office and former can’t be trusted to consistently promote forward-thinking development without, making it into a wedge campaign issue, what chance do we have to ever attract meaningful industry and the requisite talent?

    1. +1.

Chambers is about the only candidate who seems to think Indiana has a future worth trying to invest in.

Doden is a clone of Braun who has shown that maybe, just maybe, being a successful business owner doesn’t translate in a lot of cases to being an effective politician.

  4. I’m not an expert on the quantity of water available or needed but most utilities deliver across long distances whether it is water, electricity, natural gas, etc. I’ve heard that people ship crude oil over here from the middle east which I believe is farther than Lafayette.
