The series is about as upscale as motorcycle racing gets, sort of like a two-wheeled version of Formula 1.
So, if you want to brave the rain and turn heads of this speed-crazy crowd, what would you ride?
Probably a Ducati Desmosedici RR, says Bill Carr, co-owner of Ducati Indianapolis in Zionsville.
They’re in effect a street-legal MotoGP motorcycle with about 200 horsepower and capable of going more than 200 mph. The Italian manufacturer doesn’t give them away: The list price is $72,500.
Another respectable steed would be the MV Augusta F4, Carr says. It’s also a street-legal racer made by an Italian company.
Those of you who ride, do you agree? And with standards like these, would you dare show up on a Harley-Davidson?
