LETTER: Use DNA to solve crimes

Do you really believe that adding more profiles to the national database will not result in more crimes being solved and criminals apprehended [Sites: DNA profile should be destroyed without conviction, Jan. 14]? Really? Have you not read the papers lately where Indiana benefited from DNA collected elsewhere? Does that evidence somehow not count? Do you need a 100 percent guarantee that this will solve every crime before you’re willing to consider it?

I truly hope that no son, daughter or grandchild of yours is ever victimized by somebody who has had multiple arrests but the backed-up court system has yet to put them behind bars or they repeatedly plea to a lesser charge.

I can tell you from personal experience, it really hurts when that happens. You feel very let down by our criminal justice system.
