Disparaging experts as “eggheads” is yet another example of attacking established institutions and processes that we have relied on for decades and that have served our society well as a part of the national order. I would rather trust the “egghead” experts on vaccines and economic assessments than Trucker Carlson and Sean Hannity.

But Brent B’s is always the correct one (according to him).
The headline and first paragraph appear to be written by someone with no knowledge of the content of the article.
The NBER isn’t supposed to “declare a recession” and then have policymakers react to it. The entire concept of “an official NBER recession” misses the picture completely. The NBER records when a recession has happened, for future academic researchers to study.
Reactionary nonsense like this doesn’t belong in IBJ.
