  1. Nice try to pin these problems on anyone other than those responsible, Tim.

Here’s the unvarnished truth: The primary driver of Indianapolis murder rate in the inner city is the absence of fathers at home, married to the mother(s) of their children. I’m not sure how you approach that problem, but don’t blame others for the fact that way too many black children are born out of wedlock. Nothing more greatly contributes to the crime problems Indianapolis has.

  2. White progressives who claim to care the most about minorities also believe they totally lack the agency and accountability that they apply to their own demographic group and relatives. Infantilizing people never works, it just breeds more dysfunction although it does keep the checks coming in for non-profits that depend on gullible donors looking for cheap absolution from their supposed sins.

  3. The author writes one statement I agree with ” … many of the institutions designed to help people out of poverty and despair only multiply their problems.” Government subsidizing out-of-wedlock mothers for each child born, federal housing projects, and numerous assistance programs have harmed the Black population exclusively. These well-intentioned efforts to help Black America have fostered a culture of entitlement and victim-hood, not among all Black people, but primarily in our largest U.S. inner cities. There is no question that the children born into what often seems hopeless situations, need an intervention. They need extra help and guidance to break the cycle of failing to become educated and developing proven work ethics that enable all people to provide for themselves with dignity and a sense of purpose and accomplishment. The failed assistance programs all have a common denominator. The U.S. federal government, with programs championed not exclusively but primarily by elected leaders from the Democratic Party. Some might argue that this has been a covert means to garner power and wealth for elected leaders by maintaining a permanent class of dependent voters. I believe some elected officials may have that objective, but some also sincerely want the victims of society to be helped. Regardless, “continuing the same programs and policies that have proven to fail for decades … and expecting different results … is an example of the definition of insanity”. It is past time to get the federal government out of the way and allow state and local leadership, in concert with faith-based organizations, to intervene and make a positive difference in the lives of those that are fully capable of becoming solid citizens, if they only get the genuine care and attention of those that can teach and show them a path to success as human beings. We need to focus less on the history of racial divides, and more on the behaviors and disciplines that will break the legacy of shattered families, victim-hood, poverty, and ignorance. These are the true enemies of equity and inclusion for all Americans.
