No religious test

I am a lifelong Catholic and concur with [Feb. 4 Maurer column] comments, except for Planned Parenthood, whose abortion tactics are unacceptable to me. No vote should be for a person’s religion. Religion can be part of what a candidate has as a moral compass and perhaps should be. But no religion or religious tenant should stand above another. On the other side, many actions today go too far to take religion out of our society. That also is not what our founders intended with the separation principle. We have to get back to that balance on both sides.
