Law selectively enforced

Keywords Opinion

Peter Rusthoven [June 25] correctly criticized President Obama’s decision to invade the province of Congress by taking steps to effectively enact the Dream Act through omission. By selecting which laws to enforce (even those not enacted yet) and which to ignore (even laws of “unquestionable validity”), the president has determined that his personal opinion about the surrounding issues should trump the acts of the legislative bodies that serve the American public. This unilateral action distorts the balance of power in our three-pronged government. We are on a slippery slope.
