Touching is believing

I enjoyed Bruce Hetrick’s [June 10] column about people not listening to signs (although I may be guilty of “not merging right away”).

Your article reminded me of a quote I’ve been saying for over 30 years: Tell a man there are 400 billion stars in our galaxy and he’ll believe you. Tell him a wall has fresh paint, and he has to touch it to see if it’s true.
