The untimely death of blogger Gary Welsh

Keywords Opinion

I didn’t believe everything [Gary Welsh] wrote, but he certainly uncovered and publicized a lot of public corruption that would otherwise have remained hidden and/or unspoken of.

Unfortunately, it seemed that few consequences of accountability ever came of the stories he published. I can understand a feeling of depression after doing so much work and seeing so little change.

It would be great to see someone carry on his coverage on local government issues and eventually help create a legacy of more government transparency, accountability and decisions that benefit the citizenry instead of the politically connected few.
