There is something slightly broken in the car market. When the dealer tells you you can’t order a car and you have to take what they’ve got coming in, sight unseen, that is not a how a free market works.
Is it no wonder in that situation, that all that’s coming in are the high end, high profit margin cars, and I suspect manufactures are working hard to make sure hard to keep it that way.
The car makers are laughing all the way to the bank while hosing consumers and employees.
They do not even make low margin vehicles anymore…. cheapest sedan you can buy is like 22k now?
There should be a way to cut the dealerships out of the transaction – especially for these lower end cars. It would help with margin issues, and most Americans don’t like the dealerships experience anyway.
The bulk of the manufacturing for low cost, very low profit margin cars
has been sent to Mexico for production. Otherwise the low cost low profit margin cars
would be completely discontinued. Making it all but impossible for people
to purchase affordable low cost cars.
The car companies are having to shift huge amounts of money to the production of EV’s. The government is regulating and mandating this process.
If you think gas powered cars are expensive, just wait until you start pricing the
EV’s.
