  1. Ann Murtlow will be a very hard person to replace both at United Way and within the life of our city and state. She is as nimble and creative and resourceful as the organization in which she sought to instill these qualities. The energy she has invested and the stamina she has displayed have been remarkable, often heroic! In addition, she holds a very special place personally in the lives and hearts of all those she has touched and befriended over her many years in leadership positions. She deserves not just to step away from her open throttle pace but to do so with a sense of satisfaction and a measure of pride. That’s said, I predict it won’t be long before she finds her way back to assuming again in some fashion the role she has always played in making a difference for good. Godspeed, Ann, and thanks for all you have given and all you have accomplished. Sarah Barker
