It’s way too many wetland acres stopping progress in a lot of cities in the state… Great News.
So you like outward sprawl gobbling up farmlands and having increased flooding issues because floodwaters have fewer and fewer wetland acres to drain into and recharge the local aquifer?
Not saying I’m for or against this because there are a lot of nuances involved, but Farmers as a group are for it.
As much as I respect agriculture (I grew up working and studying in agriculture), this is the opposite of a compelling case for me to support it. Farmers support it because they can sell their land for sprawl development, which is bad, not because it’s the right thing to do. Again, the core interest is money and making money at the expense of environment, health, and flood control.
Can’t have any of that nature stuff around!
Gotta have the concrete pouring!
The same legislature as just going on about the importance of maintaining farmland last month.
Wish they’d make up their minds.
Selling out Indiana’s future for a few quick bucks now – pretty disgraceful!
AND – shouldn’t Mr. Miller excuse himself from such a blatantly show of personal greed? He may be QUALIFIED to comment, but not to propose legislation that enriches himself.
That would require bow knowledge of the importance of wetlands, plus ethics, neither of which Rep. Miller has.
That would require both knowledge of the importance of wetlands, plus ethics, neither of which Rep. Miller has.
That would require both knowledge of the importance of wetlands, plus ethics.
Buyer, beware if you purchase a home in development over wetlands. Shifting slabs, wet basements, mold, higher insurance costs, clogged storm drains, and flooding, to name a few. Are you going to be the unlucky one that has a severe problem?
Hunters and environmentalists need no warnings. We are too aware of what will be lost and can never be regained.
Agreed. Wetlands are EXTREMELY important. Anyone that doesn’t understand the benefits of them should do some reading.
Indiana: “a state that works” because the politicians ignore ethical standards, rush through controversial legislation in a way that limits attention or opposition, and favors greed over a healthy environment. Further proof the Republican Supermajority has run amuck for its own benefit, everything and everyone else be damned.
Correct.
Exactly!!
