  1. As usual these stories highlight a handful of people with their individual issues. Of the millions of other employees, we don’t hear their stories of actually doing what they are paid to do, and go back to work. 2-3 days a week at the office is a pretty good deal for any employee, especially if they worked 5 days a week before Covid and the BLM riots. Forcing one to move to another city is not fair, no matter their pre 2020 schedules. Over all it’s time to grow up and get back to work.

    1. and really do we need more than a 3 day work week anymore?

      I can accomplish in 3 days in the office more than I did in 5 before covid as I no longer have any interest in the pointless conversations and non-work related updates.

      Give us 3 days in the office and a 4 day weekend and we will have an overall more productive society – plus people spend more money when they are not at work so local businesses will see a drastic uptick in revenue…

  2. So tired of hearing the same sob stories over and over. What did these people do before Covid??? I’m sorry they can’t stay at home and watch Netflix, run errands, lay at the pool, etc. when they’re supposed to be working…well, not really sorry.

  3. Yet most of the studies have shown workers who prefer to work from home are more productive and happier. Productive and happier employees has translated to higher profits for many companies. It’s a different world then before COVID, as most employers upgraded their systems to enable many to work from home. And employees figured how how to have places in their home from which to work. It appears both of the comments are by men, whom I suspect do not have primary child care obligations. For working moms with kids, work from home meant being able to take care of their kids, and get their work done, often late into the night.
    I suspect in the long run these companies will pay a price for these policies, the payment being in lower morale, more difficult to find replacements at the same skill level, and ultimately lower productivity.

Can you post such reliable sources and wouldn’t it be fair to point out that compainies may have a differnt prospective when it comes to how productive employees really are when working from home? My daughter worked for Geico insurance and she hated remote work. She said in her case it was overly hyped. Geico required a much larger work load when working from home than in the office. Almost like mandatory overtime from home. Plus they had a system where if the mouse on your computer wasn’t constantly moving, they considered that as you’re not at your computer working. In short, it wasn’t the pleasnat experince she thought it would be. I personally hate to call a company and someone working from home answer and you hear crying babies in the background with constant apologies for the background noise. I think there’s a way to make it work for all parties but who would of thought that remote work would cause such a ripple affect with downtown businesses hurting and defaults on office rental space in every major city? Nobody thought this through completely and it can cause a serious issue to the economy that will affect us all
