The Midwest Defense Innovation Summit (MDIS) is the region’s premier gathering focused on advancing national security through mission-driven technology and capability development. Powered by the Applied Research Institute, this high-impact summit convenes senior defense leaders, policymakers, industry, academia, and regional partners to examine how emerging technologies are tested, transitioned, and fielded at speed in support of national defense priorities. MDIS emphasizes operational relevance, strategic competition, and the pathways that move innovation from concept to deployed capability.

Hon. Todd Young
Bio
Since joining the Senate in 2017, Todd Young has offered conservative solutions and built bipartisan coalitions to address the biggest issues facing Hoosier families.
He 2022, he authored the CHIPS and Science Act, landmark legislation that is bringing semiconductor production back to the United States to shore up our supply chain and ensure America is never dependent on China for critical chips.
Todd graduated from the United States Naval Academy with honors in 1995 and accepted a commission in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 2000, Todd was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps as a Captain. While serving in the Marines and working as a business consultant, Todd earned an MBA and his law degree.
In 2010, he ran for Congress and served three terms representing Indiana’s 9th District. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016. He currently serves on the Senate Committees on Finance; Intelligence; Commerce, Science & Transportation; and Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
Todd married his wife Jenny in 2005. Today, they reside in Johnson County, Indiana with their four children: a son, Tucker, and three daughters, Annalise, Abigail and Ava.
