I want to continue building a career grounded in thoughtful, strategic work, while creating more space for first-generation and Hispanic students to see themselves in this profession.”

Alexis Martinez said the path to her current role as an associate with Dentons has been a mix of persistence and curiosity. “I wanted to be an attorney since I was in elementary school, but the type of law I envisioned practicing has changed as I pursued that goal,” she said. During law school, she gravitated toward transactional work while staying connected to her early interest in privacy. “I took every opportunity to build subject matter knowledge, including earning my master’s, obtaining certifications and writing articles, which helped me carve out a niche.” At work, her job is to advise clients throughout the entire life cycle of a business, from formation to dissolution, and through key transitions like mergers and acquisitions. “I love working with brilliant, forward-thinking people, both clients and colleagues,” she said. “Every day brings a new challenge, and I enjoy being part of the solution when clients are facing big decisions or trying to do something new.”•
