Apparently Mr. Banks assumes that his victory is in the bag with Indiana being largely Republican and voters not knowing the issues, candidates and a good number just voting straight ticket he can ride on Trump’s coattails.
That’s the lesson that Republicans learned from Richard Mourdock; just sit there and be quiet and win. It’s worked every time since. I mean, you think Diego Morales would have done anything but embarrass himself from a debate? Why do you think he skipped his debate for office?
Until some Republican actually gets voted out of office or loses an election, or until there’s a functioning Indiana Democratic Party, nothing will change.
Maybe he’ll agree to debate after Harris gives her first press conference. McCray, as a Democrat, endorses Harris, and probably Biden in the past where he did his Biden Basement Campaign. She has nothing to complain about until she denounces Harris and Biden.
Of course, they can just debate each other. Mr. Banks is not their slave. If they debate each other, I’ll watch to see them expose the other’s failures and short comings.
A debate is just another inconvenient forum for a veteran like Banks to have to explain why he’s replaced his oath to the Constitution with fealty to Donald Trump. That said, no one watches debates and a person who is going to win by 15 points has no positives, only negatives, from participating.
They could discuss Banks’ record in Congress, which amounts to getting a few bills passed to do with veterans and grandstanding on cultural issues.
