As Indianapolis embarks on the once-a-decade task of redrawing City-County Council districts, officials are soliciting public input.
The City-County Council has scheduled community forums, one per township, scattered throughout January and February. They’re part of a public education and engagement campaign dubbed “Your Voice 2022.”
“The effort marks the first time in Indianapolis history that the Council is beginning the redistricting process with a public information and engagement campaign,” says a news release.
It’s also the first time since city and county government was consolidated in 1970 that Democrats, who won a 20-5 supermajority in the 2019 elections, will run Marion County’s redistricting process.
Indianapolis-based consulting firm Engaging Solutions will host the meeting series. Attendees must wear masks at each event, the news release said.
