Excellent article Liz. I have been an employment recruiter for over 35 years working for some of the largest companies in the world. Most people in talent acquisition, human resources and hiring managers have no clue how to conduct interviews. Companies have done a poor job educating their hiring managers how to interview. The entire process of interviewing, including all the questions and methods used need to be thrown out the window so we can start over. I actually once worked for a manager who claimed he could tell if someone was going to be a good hire by the firmness of their handshake. Right! The vast number of questions asked in no way enable a manager to understand whether or not the individual can do the work. And that is the essence of the interview is it not? We are trying to determine if someone can do the job for which they have applied. Keep up the great work!
