  1. And you know they most likely matched the highest HC in the land at $13mm and he deferred the rest to his coordinators like last time. Haines and Shanahan got raises too. No doubt. Gonna be around for a while..

  2. My dad took me to the inauguration of the ‘17th Street’ Memorial Stadium exactly 65 years ago this week. Like this Saturday, Michigan State was the homecoming opponent. I doubt IU loses 35-0 with as they did that chilly October with 15,000 empty seats. Great news. Now IU needs to commission a life sized bronze Bison.🦬 Thanks AD Dolson and Coach Cig. 😁

  3. He is a Harvard B-School case study in having a plan, trusting in it and building the right culture. He is a role model for many for the success he’s having right now. IU faithful are being rewarded for the many years of suffering and it’s all worth it to be where they are right now!

    1. What exactly did you expect to happen with the Mike Braun board at IU with folks like Jim Bopp on the board?

That Braun, the product of a liberal arts college, actually sees any value in a liberal arts education?

Or that Bopp actually wanted “robust and uninhibited debate”?

      The changes have only started.

  4. Cog owes James Franklin a HUGE thank you for the extra millions he just got paid. I hope IU doesn’t end up firing him and having to pay him $50 million the way Penn State just decided to do with the coach who took them to the final four just last year.

    1. Steven, you hit the ball on the head in wondering what the buy-out is in the contract. The salary number doesn’t lock anybody in. It’s the amount of money another team is willing to sell out to buy the contract out.

    2. Franklin’s deal has offset clauses that could reduce what Penn State has to pay him, so if he coaches elsewhere, Penn State gets to deduct that from what they pay him.

Jimbo Fisher still remains the gold standard … $19.2 million to go away then over $7 million a year through 2031. Whoever negotiated that deal and convinced Texas A&M to sign it should get an award.

  5. After his sideline burst at the Oregon game, seems like he’s got a little Bobby in him. Just a bit psycho! He needs to enroll in a IU PR class, he’s not a very dynamic interview. In the past, IU has “locked up” many coaches, only to pay them to leave. Only time will tell, but enjoy the moment for sure.
