Conseco chief buys 200,000 shares

Conseco CEO Jim Prieur bought 200,000 shares in the company today, the Carmel insurer disclosed.

The purchase brought Prieur’s stake to 430,000 shares, according to Bloomberg.

Prieur acquired the shares for $4.35 to $4.97 a share.

The stock is up 22 percent today, to $4.62, after having lost nearly half its value this week. The drop came after Conseco said it had lost $40 million on investments in Lehman Brothers, American International Group Inc. and Washington Mutual Inc.
