Marketing Informatics sells print operation

Marketing Informatics LLC, an Indianapolis direct-marketing firm, has sold its printing unit to Indianapolis-based Printing Partners Inc.

Marketing Informatics acquired the print operation, then called RPS Printing Inc., from Tom Bius three years ago.

However, the print arm needed a big investment to bring capacity in line with Marketing Informatics’ needs, said founder and CEO Bob Massie. The print unit was able to supply only about half the demand despite operating virtually around the clock.

“Having a print operation was fundamentally a management and capital distraction,” Massie said.

Neither party would disclose the sale price, but Massie said it is similar to what he paid for RPS.

As many as a dozen of Marketing Informatics’ 75 employees will move to Printing Partners, he said.

Marketing Informatics will source its printing needs from Printing Partners.
