Wind turbine maker moving offices to Yorktown

An Italian manufacturer of wind turbine transmissions and other types of transmissions plans to move its U.S. headquarters to Yorktown and create 455 jobs, according to Energize-ECI Inc., an economic development group that promotes the Muncie area.

Brevini Co.’s $60 million project will be formally announced this afternoon.

The relocation of the U.S. offices from the Chicago suburb of Vernon Hills will include the company’s first manufacturing plant. The new jobs will average $46,000, Energize-ECI said.

Brevini will locate the operations in Park One Center, an industrial park at Interstate 69 and State Road 332.

The company makes planetary and helical gears and final drive components for manufacturing, agriculture, transportation and mining.
